A stock is a fractional ownership interest in a business. The research process therefore begins with the business, not the ticker.
Understand before forecasting
Detailed forecasts built on weak understanding create false precision. We first ask how the business earns money, why customers choose it and what constrains competitors.
Price and value are different questions
The useful question is what future economics are embedded in the current price and whether those assumptions are reasonable.
Prefer durable variables
Competitive position, unit economics, reinvestment returns, balance-sheet resilience and capital allocation usually matter more than short-term narrative.
Use inversion
The process actively searches for evidence that would disprove the thesis.
Uncertainty belongs in the report
Valuation is a range of outcomes conditional on assumptions.
Clarity is part of rigor
Company Anatomy aims to retain professional depth while remaining navigable for a reader new to the company or sector.
